Collection: PUNKROCKGOTHSHOP

There was no such thing as mass produced, pre-made punk clothing in the 80s. We made everything ourselves by cutting up our clothes and the pieces we found in op shops. For those of us who didn't know how, or couldn't afford to screen print, a Nikko pen would do to write words, patterns and doodles, it was all very symbolic. We hand sewed on whatever we felt like - not just band patches, but clashing fabrics, or three-dimensional things like a shaved Barbie head.

This is how original punk style evolved into more commonly acceptable street wear. Trying to copy it with pre-made just isn't the same, it's try-hard - a term thrown around quite a lot back in the day if some poor thing didn't get it right in the world according to whomever was standing in front of them - oh the cruelty!

You can't deny the incredible talent of the people that put together some of the most amazing, bizarre, and creative looks. The birth of punk was in politics. But for me, it was, and will always be about the music. Clash. Because anything goes. There's no rules to break. When in doubt, add fishnets and kohl eyeliner.
